Summary
of SEED
The Singapore Epidemiology of Eye Disease (SEED)
Centre serves to initiate, promote and coordinate
ophthalmic epidemiologic research in Singapore and
throughout Asia. SEED aims to determine the epidemiology, impact and risk factors for visual impairment, cataract, myopia, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. |
The Centre has expertise in all aspects of clinical research, including clinical trials, epidemiology and biostatics, as well as research related to genetic and molecular epidemiology, evidence-based medicine and outcomes research. The SEED programme will provide invaluable data towards health planning and resource allocation in the region, ultimately establishing Singapore as a leading hub of ophthalmic epidemiology and genetic research in the Asia Pacific region.
